Swim for Ryan
Ryan Gowty has a long history with the Nagambie On Water open water swim. In 2009, as a junior, he not only won the junior category but placed third fastest overall for the males. As a senior he has been on the podium numerous times, narrowly missing the fastest overall swimmer in 2015, by just seconds. He has swum with other family members including his uncle.
At just 20 years of age Ryan was tragically killed in a camping accident on the Murray River over the 2018 Christmas break. The NOW Festival have added two memorial awards to event in memory of Ryan. Fastest Male and Fastest Female Swimmers.
Individual perpetual trophies for winners and medals for all placegetters.
The course follows the lake foreshore from Buckley Park Boat Ramp past Black Caviar looping back to Buckley Park for a short 10m sprint to the finish line.
Spectators will be able to line the boardwalk to encourage the competitors from start to finish.
(Includes a competitor pack of locally sourced offers and goodies)
